DCGI permits Bharat Biotech to conduct trials for intranasal booster dose

The vaccine manufacturer had proposed the booster dose for those who have been already been inoculated with Covishield and Covaxin vaccines. "Granting permission to conduct clinical trials with vaccine does not convey or imply that, based on the clinical trial data generated with the vaccine, permission to market this vaccine in the country will automatically be granted," said the national drugs regulator.
Delhi's daily Covid cases dips 42% to 4,291, positivity rate at 9.5%

The positivity rate has reduced to 9.5 per cent with active cases declining to 33,175 as per the Health Department bulletin. The fresh Covid infections and deaths have pushed the tally to 18,15,288 and the death toll to 25,744. With Covid recovery rate climbing at 96.75 per cent, the active cases rate in Delhi stands at 1.82 per cent while the death rate continues at 1.42 per cent. The cases reported on Thursday are 4,291, against 7,498 cases on Wednesday, while there were 34 deaths.
Centre may cap Covaxin, Covishield price at ₹275 per dose

The Union government plans to fix the prices of Covaxin and Covishield each at ₹ 275 per dose. The tentative price cap will be implemented once both the vaccines get regular market approval from Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) next month. Covaxin was priced at ₹ 1200 per dose and Covishield at ₹ 780 per dose. The price also included service charge of ₹ 150 per dose (at private facilities)
Delhi lifts weekend curfew, no odd-even for shops

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Thursday decided to lift the weekend curfew and odd-even rule for shops in the market. However, the night curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. will continue in the national capital. The decision to relax the curbs was taken following a DDMA meeting chaired by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal with Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal earlier in the day.

Omicron in community transmission - The impact explained

Covid's Omicron variant is now in community transmission stage in India, the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) said in its latest bulletin on Sunday, noting become dominant in multiple metros, where new cases have been rising exponentially. The centre's genome sequencing body has also said that an infectious sub-variant of Omicron BA.2 lineage has been reported in a considerable fraction in India.
