Infection with one Covid variant doesn't protect from others: ICMR

Responding to a question at a press briefing on re-infection in patients after some weeks, he said that as variants have emerged, re-infections have been seen. However, the use of vaccination prevents severe disease and hospitalisations and mortality, while the use of Covid Appropriate Behaviour prevents the infection.
India reports 67,084 new Covid cases & 1,241 deaths

In the same time span, a total 1241 deaths were reported, taking the death toll to 5,06,520, said the Union Health ministry on Thursday morning. The active Covid case has reduced to 7,90,789, which constitute 1.86 per cent of the country's total positive cases.
Nasal Spray launched to treat adult Covid patients in India

The Mumbai-based drug firm had earlier received manufacturing and marketing approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for the Nitric Oxide nasal spray (NONS) as part of the accelerated approval process. The nasal spray has been designed to kill the coronavirus in the upper airways.
At 71,365 new Covid cases, India reports marginal rise

A total of 1,217 deaths were also reported in the 24 hours, taking the death toll to 5,05,279. The active Covid cases have reduced to 8,92,828, which constitute 2.11 per cent of the country's total positive cases. The recovery of 1,72,211 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 4,10,12,869. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 96.70 per cent.
India crosses 170 cr vaccination mark

Centre to resume full office attendance 'without any exemption' from Feb 7

This is in supercession of the earlier circular according to which the 50 per cent office attendance rule had been extended till February 15. But, after obtaining inputs from the relevant quarters and review of the situation, a fresh Office Memorandum has been issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) informing that all the employees at all levels, without any exemption, will report to office from Monday.
Delhi reports 1,604 Covid cases; positivity rate falls to 2.87%

Besides, 17 Covid deaths have also been reported, taking the toll in the city to 25,969. The active Covid cases has come down to 9,979 as per the Delhi health department on Saturday. With Covid recovery rate improving and standing at 98.04 per cent, the active Covid cases rate in Delhi is 0.54 per cent while the death rate is 1.41 per cent.
Third Covid wave has more younger patients, deaths due to co-morbidities: ICMR

According to the data collected of hospitalized people in 37 different hospitals across India which did the plasma study during the first and second surge and which are part of the National Covid Clinical Registry, the Omicron surge saw younger in-patients of 44 years as opposed to 55 years earlier, whereas a comparison of co-morbidities stood at 46% versus the 66% earlier. The study also found the common symptoms, mainly sore throat, lesser use of drugs, and significantly improved outcomes.
75% adult population in India fully vaccinated

"With the mantra of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Prayas', India has administered 75 per cent of its adult population with both doses of the Covid vaccine. We are getting stronger in the fight against the pandemic. We have to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour and receive the vaccine as soon as possible," Mandaviya added in a tweet.
Delhi continues to see drop in Covid cases, deaths still high

The positivity rate has also reduced to 8.6 per cent with active cases declining to 29,152 as per the Health Department bulletin. The fresh Covid infections and deaths has pushed the tally at 18,19,332 and the death toll to 25,769. With Covid recovery rate climbing at 96.98 per cent, the active Covid cases rate stands at 1.60 per cent while the death rate continues at 1.42 per cent.
