Unnao BJP MLA Pankaj Gupta, two days ago, booked the cinema halls and offered free viewing of the film for his voters. The MLA, said his aides, had booked one theatre till March 31 so that people can see the film which is now being promoted by the BJP. Gupta has appealed to the people to watch the film which is a piece of history that had been kept hidden all these years.

After at least 10 persons were charred to death in the violence that allegedly broke out after the murder of a deputy Panchayat Pradhan at Baguti village in West Bengal's Birbhum district, BJP Lok Sabha member Locket Chatterjee said on Tuesday that Bengal is fast turning into 'terrorists' own country'.

Congress General Secretary Ajay Maken said, "The consensus is that along with being administratively beneficial, the unification of the municipal corporations will improve its financial position. The Union government should have brought this Bill at least six months earlier to prevent any delay in MCD elections."

Appearing before the court, the former Minister stated that she had earlier filed divorce petition against her husband in 2012 and the court had issued notice to her husband for filing his reply. Meanwhile, she contested the Assembly election from Sarojini Nagar seat in 2017 and became an MLA. Thereafter, she became a Minister also and her divorce petition was dismissed in 2018 as she could not appear before the court.

Uttarakhand's Chief Minister-designate Pushkar Singh Dhami met Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Gurmit Singh on Monday evening to officially stake claim to form the new government in the state. Sources said that the swearing-in ceremony of the new government is likely to be held on March 23-24. Earlier, Dhami was elected as the leader of BJP's legislative party at a meeting in Dehradun, held in the presence of central observers Rajnath Singh and Meenkshi Lekhi.

With the support of three Independent MLAs and a two Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) legislators, the leader of the BJP's 20-member legislative party, Pramod Sawant, on Monday staked claim to form a BJP-led coalition government in Goa.

With no other candidate filing nomination for the March 31 elections to the lone Rajya Sabha seat from the state, BJP's S. Phangnon Konyak is now all set to become the first woman Rajya Sabha member from Nagaland. Of course, doubts persist as to how much this episode will change the course of Nagaland politics, but it was path-breaking, and certainly not an easy one.

The newly elected BJP MLAs, however, are clueless about the meeting of the legislative party. The BJP leadership, meanwhile, continues to deliberate upon the names for the post of chief minister of Uttarakhand in the national capital. A meeting was held to discuss the formation of BJP government in Uttarakhand at the residence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
