IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians Bounced Out of Playoff Contention

Under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians have managed to win only four out of their 12 matches so far. Even if they win the remaining two games, they would get only 12 points, a tiny number for a team with eight losses already.

Mumbai Indians, the five-time champion and one of the more formidable teams in the Indian Premier League, received a stunning blow to their team in the IPL 2024 tournament. The dominant show of Sunrisers Hyderabad against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday sealed the fate of Mumbai Indians, who have failed to live up to expectations this season.

The thumping victory took Sunrisers Hyderabad to 14 points on the IPL leaderboard. Moreover, the match between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants on May 14 will take at least one of them to 14 points as well. Which means, the hope of Mumbai Indians making it to the next stage goes up in smoke.

With the stakes going high, the match between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore is now a "do or die" match for both teams, with elimination from the tournament looming large.

Travis Head's scorching 89 runs off 30 balls and Abhishek Sharma's explosive 75 off 38 powered Sunrisers Hyderabad to a ten-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants as the target of 166 runs was chased down in a mere 9.4 overs. It leaves little doubt over who dominates the game and the opponent would know it pretty.
