Japan Open 2023: K Srikanth enters Round of 16, Aakarshi Kashyap bows out

Former world no. 1 Srikanth beat Chou Tien Chen 21-13, 21-13 in a round of 32 encounter, which lasted for 43 minutes. The world championship silver medallist will face the winner between compatriot Prannoy HS and All England 2023 champion China’s Li Shi Feng in round of 16 on Thursday.
PV Sindhu drops to world No. 17, lowest ranking since January 2013

This is Sindhu's lowest ranking in over a decade. The last time she was ranked 17th in the women's singles category was in January, 2013. The 28-year old shuttler was world No. 12 in the standings last week. Sindhu, who achieved a career-best ranking of world No. 2 back in April 2017, started the 2023 season as the world No. 7 women’s singles player but has slipped down the list after enduring a poor run of form in the few months.

Sindhu leads world No. 1 Yamaguchi 14-10 in head-to-head but was defeated by the Japanese shuttler in the first round of the Singapore Open last month.

As the match progressed, both shuttlers battled to gain the upper hand. With the scores tied at 19-all, Ng Ka Long Angus won two consecutive points to take the lead.

Prannoy defeated Indonesia's Tommy Sugiarto of Indonesia 21-9, 21-17 in 36 minutes while Kashyap went down to Li Yang Su of Chinese Taipei 21-16, 21-17 in a second-round clash at Court 1 in Tian-Mu Arena. In the mixed doubles, Rohan Kapoor and Sikki Reddy lost to the local pair of Hsiang Chien Chiu and Xiao Min Lin 21=13, 21-18 in just 29 minutes.
Satwik-Chirag rise to career-best World no 3 in BWF doubles rankings

The duo toppled the reigning world champions Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the final to win India's maiden BWF Super 1000 on Sunday. Satwik and Chirag have enjoyed a remarkable 2023 thus far, emerging victorious in two world tour tournaments which include the Swiss Open, and Indonesia Open along with securing a gold medal at the Badminton Asia Championships.
