India has sent a strong warning to Pakistan, stating that any future terror attack emanating from its territory will be considered an act of war, with a suitable response to be made, as per sources in the know.
This cutting remark follows a series of incendiary drone and missile attacks by Pakistan over the last three nights, hitting both military bases and civilian districts in northern India. Due to India's sophisticated air defence system, almost all of these hostile efforts were thwarted.
The action is a clear-cut change in India's rules of engagement with regard to terrorism with cross-border linkages. It follows two weeks after a ghastly terror strike in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killed 26 tourists—an attack suspected to have been planned by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists.
In retaliation, India retaliated with accurate cruise missile attacks on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). But instead of retreating, Pakistan took the tensions further by launching drone attacks on civilian targets—indicating the control its military establishment exercises over the civilian leadership.
With this provocation, India's message is unmistakable: any further provocation will not be accepted and will elicit direct and forceful retaliation.
