Under this new initiative, Zomato will transform its fleet of 'green' vehicles into red, serving vegetarian orders while maintaining their distinct identity, albeit blending in with the general fleet. Goyal emphasized that all delivery partners, regardless of their fleet assignment, will don the red uniform, eliminating the visible distinction on the ground.

Explaining the rationale behind this move, Goyal highlighted the importance of avoiding misinterpretation and potential safety risks for delivery partners associated with delivering non-vegetarian orders. By adopting a unified red branding, Zomato aims to prevent any unwarranted association with non-vegetarian food, thereby safeguarding its delivery partners from potential conflicts with residential communities or landlords.

Acknowledging the concerns regarding the segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian orders, Goyal cited instances where spillage or odor transfer occasionally occurred, causing inconvenience to customers. By consolidating the delivery fleet under a single color scheme, Zomato intends to address such issues effectively.

In response to queries raised by Shaik Salauddin, President of the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union, regarding the filtering of delivery partners based on dietary preferences, Goyal assured that Zomato remains committed to serving customers regardless of caste, religion, or community affiliation. He reaffirmed the company's dedication to accommodating customer feedback and taking appropriate actions to enhance service quality.

Social media commentators promptly engaged in discussions, citing statistics from the National Family Health Survey-5, indicating that only a minority of Indians identify as 'pure vegetarians.' Various states and union territories were ranked based on the percentage of vegetarian population, with Rajasthan and Haryana leading the charts.

The unveiling of Zomato's revamped branding strategy has sparked a dialogue on dietary preferences, customer inclusivity, and delivery service efficiency, reflecting the evolving dynamics of the food delivery industry in India.
