New update lets Pokemon Go run much smoother on iPhones
With version 1.191.0, the "advanced settings" section of the app now includes an option that reads "Unlock your device's native refresh rate for higher FPS", reports The Verge. Pokemon Go was previously locked to 30fps on iOS devices. The new iOS feature is not limited to the 13 Pro and Pro Max, which are the only iPhones with 120Hz "ProMotion" displays, the report said.
Windows 11 to make it easier to change default browsers
Reports surfaced in August that Microsoft's upcoming release of Windows 11 will make it harder to switch default browsers. In a latest statement to The Verge, Microsoft said: "In the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22509 released to the Dev Channel on Wednesday, we streamlined the ability for a Windows Insider to set the 'default browser' to apps that register for HTTP:, HTTPS:, .HTM, and .HTML".

Google delays return to office from Jan 10 amid Omicron threat
According to an email from Google VP Chris Rackow, seen by CNBC, Google will not be requiring its employees to return to offices on January 10 as expected after all. The company has changed its return to work plans several times as the pandemic evolved. In August, when the delta variant was a top concern, Google had announced plans for hybrid return-to-work till January 10, 2022.
Microsoft nudging Windows users to stop downloading Chrome
Some of the prompts, first reported by Neowin, include messages like "Microsoft Edge runs on the same technology as Chrome, with the added trust of Microsoft." Other prompts include: "That browser is so 2008! Do you know what's new? Microsoft Edge," and "I hate saving money,' said no one ever. Microsoft Edge is the best browser for online shopping."

In 2019, Amazon pocketed $60 billion in seller fees and this year, its take will soar to $121 billion, according to the report titled 'Amazon's Toll Road' by the Institute for Local Self-Reliance. Even as these exorbitant fees bankrupt sellers, they are generating huge profits for Amazon, a fact that the tech giant conceals in its financial reports. "These profits are not only the spoils of Amazon's monopoly power. They are the essential fuel that feeds its market-domination strategies, enabling it to absorb massive, predatory losses designed to lock-in market control and fund breakneck expansion," said study author Stacy Mitchell.

Jack Doresy's firm Square changes its name to Block
This announcement came after Square Founder Dorsey, who is a staunch supporter of Bitcoin, stepped down as Twitter CEO. "We built the Square brand for our Seller business, which is where it belongs," said Dorsey. "Block is a new name, but our purpose of economic empowerment remains the same. No matter how we grow or change, we will continue to build tools to help increase access to the economy," he said in a statement late on Wednesday.
