A British man in cricket whites and sporting an Indian Test shirt walked out onto the field to join the Indian team after lunch. The man with 'Jarvo 69' on his shirt is stopped by security personnel as he walked into the field. On being stopped, the man points to the sponsor's logo followed by the BCCI logo on his shirt. He looks away to get the ball but another security person in a blue jacket arrives to take the intruder away.

India had made 364 in their first innings. Moeen Ali was unbeaten 20 off 31 balls. Much of the day though belonged to Root, who hit 12 fours and negotiated the England bowlers well on a pitch that was flat and offered nothing to the Indian bowlers.
Shaw, Yadav join team after completing quarantine
"Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav have completed their quarantine period and have joined the team at Lord's," said a statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Shaw and Yadav were called up to the Indian squad following injuries to opener Shubman Gill, pacer Avesh Khan and spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar. The three have returned home. Shaw and Yadav left for England a day before the first Test started last week.

Resuming on 119/3, England added 97 to their score without losing a wicket. Captain Root scored his 51st half-century off 82 balls with his seventh boundary. He was in control of his game, taking singles and steering the ball between third man and backward point. Bairstow, on the other hand, raced to his 28th half-century in Test cricket featuring some exquisite drives.
