The 2020 French Open champion Swiatek, who came back from 3-6, 6-6 down to scrape past Fiona Ferro of France in the previous round, needed two hours and 17 minutes to overcome a surging Kontaveit. Kontaveit had won their first two meetings, including a tough fourth round of the Australian Open last year. But Swiatek beat Kontaveit during her attempted title defence at the French Open earlier this season, and she made it two in a row in New York, levelling their head-to-head.

A dominant India took control of the fourth Test on Saturday, extending their lead to 171 at stumps on day three, as Rohit struck his first Test hundred away from home and eighth overall. The visitors were on 270/3 when bad light brought a premature end to proceedings. The 34-year-old Rohit made batting look extremely easy in overcast conditions during his stay at the crease and also completed 3000 Test runs in the process.

A decade ago, people outside Odisha only knew about athletes only when it came to sports, and, at maximum, people know about the Barabati Stadium, where few international cricket matches were hosted. Though the Kalinga Stadium was there in Bhubaneswar, people were not aware of that because the platform was confined to the training of local athletes.
