Stylish Indian batter Virat Kohli shared a heartfelt note to his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma a day after beating South Africa in a last-over thriller by seven runs to win the T20 World Cup 2024 and ending the 11-year wait of ICC title at Kensington Oval, Barbados.

"None of this would have been possible without you, my love. You keep me grounded and always speak with absolute honesty. I am so grateful for you. This victory belongs to both of us. Thank you for being YOU @anushkasharma," Kohli captioned a picture of Anushka.

India, unbeaten alongside South Africa, put up an aggressive and thrilling total of 176/7, the highest in a Men's T20 World Cup final, with Kohli having played pivotal partnerships with Axar Patel and Shivam Dube. Though South Africa tried hard to chase down the target, Hardik Pandya's crucial knock on Heinrich Klaasen was enough as they could manage only 169/8. It was Jasprit Bumrah, adjudged Player of the Tournament, who made the most significant impact with 2-18, while Pandya returned with 3-20.

Ending his glittering career as India's second-highest run-scorer in this format with 4188 runs in 125 matches at an average of 48.69 and strike rate of 137.04, Kohli announced retirement from T20I cricket following up his match-winning effort.
