The most recent Annual Report of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for 2024-25 glaringly brings to the forefront the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh and Manipur unrest, highlighting the agony of multiple communities because of the violent conflicts.
In the 'Present National Scene' section, the report severely criticizes the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, calling it "barbaric" and mentioning that the violence, the cause of which are religious fanatics amidst the turmoil in the country, is intolerable.
The RSS, which is the ideological support base of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), also lauds the strength of the Hindu community in Bangladesh for their determination despite adversity. The report does accept that the situation is still grave, with Hindus' lives and properties still in peril. It decries the violence as shame by any humanity and democratic measures, highlighting that such incidents never should be present in a civilized society.
Distributed at Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha in Bengaluru, the report of RSS again talks about Indian government efforts to tackle the scenario in Bangladesh during the tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It applauds India's diplomatic push, which involved calling on the government of Bangladesh to safeguard Hindus and attempting to influence the world opinion about the issue. Moreover, the RSS stresses the efforts of Sangh Swayamsevaks and other organizations throughout India aimed at condemning the perpetrators of the attacks in Bangladesh.
Steering its attention towards Manipur violence, the RSS report urges all groups in the state to set aside their grievances and commit to restoring social peace. It observes that Manipur has been facing turmoil for the last 20 months, and commends the work of Sangh-inspired social institutions in relief work as well as promoting communication among affected groups. The RSS appreciated the Modi government's initiative in trying to tackle the crisis and making action-oriented decisions to better the situation. Progress has been registered, but the report emphasizes that it will be a time-consuming process to establish trust and an atmosphere of natural peace and oneness in the state.
In another conversation, Prime Minister Modi, in his recent podcast interview with AI scientist Lex Fridman, spoke of how the RSS has influenced his life. He said that in his association with the organization, he found a life of meaning, discipline, and spiritual connection.
Modi also highlighted the immense social work done by the RSS in the last century and emphasized the contribution of the organization to the welfare of different groups, such as tribals, women, workers, and youths.
