Shiv Sena (UBT) president and former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray has reportedly been sent an invitation for the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya via speed post. The invitation was extended for the event scheduled on Monday, but Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut criticized the government over the treatment of the Thackeray family.
Raut expressed displeasure, stating, "You worship Lord Ram and rule like Ravan (demon king). Lord Ram will curse you. All film stars are invited, but the Thackeray family, which has been closely associated with the movement, is treated in such a manner."
While Maharashtra minister Uday Samant, a member of the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, defended the use of speed post, Raut strongly objected, highlighting the perceived disrespect toward the Thackeray family.
Uddhav Thackeray is expected to be in Nashik for a two-day visit starting Monday, attending prayers at the Kalaram temple and participating in a party convention. The Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya is a significant event, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several prominent figures invited to attend. However, many opposition leaders, including Congress, have declined to participate, viewing it as a BJP-RSS event.
