Protests continue in Rajya Sabha over GST, price rise

After the Rajya Sabha adjourned for the day, some Opposition members were seen in the Well of the House holding packets of curd, buttermilk and milk and shouting 'scrap GST'. In the morning, as the House proceedings started, Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu said that he has allowed a discussion on the issue of price rise but the opposition members demanded holding discussion immediately by suspending business.
Now, Kovind will be Sonia's new neighbour

Sonia resides in 10 Janpath, while Kovind will live in 12 Janpath, one of the biggest bungalows in Lutyens' Delhi. Former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan lived in this bungalow for almost 30 years. Even after his death in 2020, his family continued to reside there, but recently this bungalow was vacated by his son and Lok Sabha MP Chirag Paswan.

Soon after the House assembled in the morning, noted former athlete P.T. Usha took oath as Member. Chaos reigned after Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge and other opposition members demanded a discussion under rule 267. Kharge said that inflation has affected everyone as prices of all essential food items, LGP and others have skyrocketed. When the pandemonium continued unabated, the House was adjourned till 2 p.m.

A three-judge headed by Chief Justice N.V. Ramana and comprising justices Krishan Murari and Hima Kohli asked the legislative secretary of Maharashtra to keep the records safe and the parties, involved in the Maharashtra matter, to frame issues which they likely to raise before the court and sought their replies. The bench observed that some issues involved in the Maharashtra political crisis may need to be referred to a larger constitutional bench for consideration.

The Upper House is likely to discuss and pass the Bill to amend the Weapons of Mass Destruction and their Delivery Systems (Prohibition of Unlawful Activities) Act, 2005 tabled by External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar on Tuesday. The opposition is expected to demand a discussion on the hike in GST rates, Agnipath, price rise and other issues.

AAP member Raghav Chaddha has moved suspension of business notice over discussion on MSP Committee and Tiruchi Siva of DMK on hike of LPG in the Upper House. AAP's Sanjay Singh has moved notice on GST in the house. Proceedings in both the Houses were adjourned for the day on Tuesday after the opposition members clamoured for discussion on GST rates hike, price rise, Agnipath scheme and other issues.

Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of opposition in Bihar Assembly, shocked the BJP on Monday after he claimed that Rai had met him before becoming a Union minister. "He (Nityanand Rai) requested me to take him into the RJD fold. He told me that he was not feeling comfortable in the BJP," Tejashwi Yadav claimed after casting his vote for the Presidential poll.
Congress to hold protests against Sonia Gandhi's questioning by ED

Sonia Gandhi's questioning, which was scheduled to take place on June 23, was postponed at her request as she cited her health conditions. Earlier Rahul Gandhi had said that the late Motilal Vora was looking after all the affairs related to Young India (YI). Vora held a 12 per cent stake in YI whereas Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi held 76 percent stake.
Tej Pratap Yadav claims his wife, in-laws torturing him

My father is having several diseases and currently recuperating in hospital. Speaker recognises Rahul Shewale as Shiv Sena leader in Lok Sabha

The Lok Sabha Secretariat issued an official circular regarding the change of Shiv Sena leader in the House. On Tuesday, 12 Lok Sabha MPs of Shinde faction met Birla, and requested him to recognise Shewale as the leader of the party in the House. Presently the party has a total of 19 MPs in Lok Sabha, and out of these 12 MPs opted for Mumbai South Central MP Shewale as their new leader in the House.
