Rajasthan Cong MLA calls minister biggest mining mafia, threatens self-immolation

Politics has intensified in Rajasthan after the self-immolation bid by a seer in Bharatpur district on Wednesday. The seer set himself on fire to protest against illegal mining in Pasopa village of the district. Singh wrote to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot stating that if the mining mafia is to be controlled in the state, the mines minister should be sacked immediately. He wrote: "I have written many letters to you on Sorsan and Godavan protection. If the only way to stop illegal mining is the path of the sadhu of Bharatpur, then please wait for me to follow this effective route and talk to you."

Rs 20 cr seized from residence of Partha Chatterjee's close aide

The cash seized from the residence of Arpita Mukherjee, known to be a close aide of Chatterjee, amounts to around Rs 20 crore. The ED sleuths have also recovered 20 mobile phones from the posh residence of Mukherjee at the Diamond City complex in Tollygunge. The officials believe that these mobile phones will provide crucial links to the teachers' recruitment scam in WBSSC and WBBPE. The ED sleuths called some bank officials for counting purposes who arrived at Mukherjee's residence with currency counting machines.
Trinamool's decision to abstain from voting disappointing: Margaret Alva

The Trinamool Congress said on Thursday that its MPs in both the Houses of the Parliament will abstain from voting in the poll to elect the next Vice President of India. BJP to study cross-voting pattern during Presidential election

Over 100 MLAs cross-voted and more than a dozen opposition MPs voted in favour of Droupadi Murmu, the President-elect. As per the data, the Congress-led opposition got 20 votes despite having 45 votes in the Assam Assembly, in Bihar six MLAs cross-voted in favour of the NDA candidate as the strength of the ruling party is 127 but got 133 votes.
