'All options open, including joining the BJP': RCP Singh

There is a buzz in the political circles that Singh might join the BJP and he is making a political pitch for himself before joining the party. "At present, I am on the road and taking the opinion of my supporters and the people. After discussion with my supporters, I will take the decision of joining the BJP," the former JD-U leader added. He visited Gopalganj on Thursday to meet his supporters. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and JD-U National President Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh levelled allegations against RCP Singh for his involvement in anti-party activities.
Judicial remand of Partha Chatterjee, Arpita Mukherjee extended by another 14 days

Chatterjee's counsel moved the bail plea on his client's health grounds. However, ED's counsel objected to the plea claiming that despite having some chronic illness, Partha Chatterjee's condition is not that critical that he will have to be granted bail. Finally, after hearing all parties, the court rejected the bail plea and ordered the extension of judicial custody for both by another 14 days.
Akhilesh blames EC for his party's debacle in polls

"The EC was dishonest. It did not hear Opposition voices. A large number of votes were cut from the electoral rolls. In Rampur, Samajwadi Party workers were not allowed to cast votes while in Azamgarh, red cards were issued to Samajwadi Party workers. Was the EC sleeping? It did not pay heed to our complaints," he said.

Delhi HC orders FIR against BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain

Shahnawaz Hussain was challenging a local court judgement dated July 12, 2018, which dismissed his revision petition on July 7, 2018. "In the present case, there seems to be a complete reluctance on the part of the police to even register an FIR. In the absence of the FIR, at best, the police could have, as correctly observed by the special judge (trial court), conducted only what is a preliminary inquiry. The very fact that it was only a reply that was filed by the police before the metropolitan magistrate, sufficiently establishes that it was not a final report that was submitted by the police," Justice Asha Menon said in the order passed on Wednesday.
Yogi seeks list of officials who 'refuse to listen'

This is the first time that the chief minister has openly taken up an issue for the party workers against the bureaucrats. The chief minister gave the instruction when, after a meeting with the MLAs and other local leaders at the police lines in Saharanpur on Wednesday evening, some BJP leaders complained that some officials of the district refused to listen to them due to which public work was being impeded.

Talking to reporters here, BJP MLA Ravi said the Idgah Maidan belongs to the revenue department, and the decisions pertaining to the ground have to be taken by it. The celebration of Ganesh festival began during the British rule, he claimed. "When permission is denied for installing Ganesh idol in the premises of Idgah Maidan, it becomes a matter of rights. The revenue department will have to take a call over granting permission. And I would say that permission should be given," Ravi said.
