Kharge 'Ravan' remark: BJP asks voters to avenge PM Modi's insult

Addressing a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra said: "Calling the Prime Minister Ravana is a grave insult. Even before this, Congress leaders have insulted him. When Sonia Gandhi was the Congress chief, she had addressed the Prime Minister as 'maut ka saudagar' (merchant of death). After all, what do these people get by humiliating the Prime Minister?"
President Droupadi Murmu opens International Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetraa

The President offered flowers on the religious scripture Gita as she performed the yagna near Lord Shri Krishna's chariot idol located at Purushottampura Bagh. Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar were also present on the occasion. President Murmu inaugurated the Gita Shilp Udyan, built in Purushottam Bagh, dedicated to the ongoing celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Sharmila detained on way to Telangana CM's residence for protest

The YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader herself was driving the car and proceeding towards Pragathi Bhavan as a mark of protest against the attack by ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). When Sharmila along with her supporters reached near the Yashoda Hospital on Raj Bhavan Road, the police stopped them. The YSRTP workers raised slogans against the ruling party. As they tried to proceed towards the chief minister's residence, police detained them.

The attack came days ahead of the bypoll to the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh, which fell vacant after the death of Samajwadi Party founder and Akhilesh's father Mulayam Singh Yadav. The Samajwadi Party has chosen Dimple Yadav, wife of Akhilesh Yadav, as its candidate in Mainpuri while the BJP has picked former Samajwadi Party MP Raghuraj Singh Shakya for the seat.

After Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called Shivpal a pendulum and a football at an election rally in Mainpuri and hours later, his security was scaled down to 'Y' from 'Z' category on Monday, it is now the CBI which has sought permission from the state government to interrogate Shivpal and two senior IAS officers in the riverfront scam case. The Yogi Adityanath government had ordered a CBI probe in the riverfront scam after it came to power in 2017.
Azam Khan was 'riot-provoking' minister in SP regime: UP DyCM

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has now called Samajwadi leader Mohd Azam Khan a 'riot-provoking' minister of the previous SP regime. He also accused him of unleashing terror on people of Rampur by encroaching upon their land and is now shedding crocodile tears. Maurya said that the BJP government has done the work of ending the terror of Azam Khan. He recalled that a stampede that occurred at the Kumbh mela was organised during the SP regime.

The Administrative Council led by J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has accorded approval to Gram Panchayats, Block Samitis and Zila Parishads for execution of works whose expenditure will be met out of Panchayats' own resources. Gram Panchayats have been vested with an authority to accord administrative approval to works from Rs one lakh to Rs five lakhs, the Block Samitis can accord administrative approval to works ranging from Rs 5 lakhs to Rs 20 lakhs and the Zila Parishad can accord administrative approval up to Rs 1 crore.

Bhagwat is on a two-day tour of Bihar and he participated in a yoga event in Darbhanga district on Monday. "Whatever the religion of the people have at present in the country but their ancestors were Hindu in the past. Hence, they are still Hindu," he said while addressing the followers of RSS.
