"In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 73 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019 (34 of 2019) read with Articles 239 and 239A of the Constitution of India, the order dated October 31, 2019, about the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir shall stand revoked immediately before the appointment of the Chief Minister under Section 54 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019," the notification, signed by President Murmu, stated.

Talking to IANS, former CEC Quraishi said, "I have heard about it on the TV that Congress is alleging that there were some problems in the EVMs. But, I don't think it is possible as it's a stand-alone machine and these machines were built in 2013. At that time, there was a different regime. They are saying that they lost when the EVM was on 90 percent or full battery and they won where the battery was 60-70 percent. The Election Commission (EC) also promised that they would investigate this matter. But, I don't think anything will come out of it.

"I met the LG and handed over letters of support that I have received from the Congress, the CPI-M, the AAP and the Independents. I requested him to fix a date for the swearing-in ceremony so that the government can start functioning. It will be a long process as there is Central rule here. The LG will first send the documents to Rashtrapati Bhawan and then to Home Ministry. We have been told it will take 2-3 days. So if it happens before Tuesday, we will have the swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday. All I want to say is that Jammu will not be ignored in this government," he said after the meeting.
