After abandoning his BMW near Bandra, Mihir fled and left his driver Rajrishi Bidawat behind to be arrested. Other suspects that had been alleged to have assisted in his flight were subsequently arrested as public and political pressure mounted.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that justice would be ensured without any delay and that nobody is above the law. The Worli police investigated with the help of six teams, searched almost every nook and corner of Mumbai and places surrounding the financial capital before laying their hands on Mihir in Virar.

Mihir is to be produced in court and is under medical examination. Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray said that at least some pieces of evidence on the ground, through CCTVs and eyewitness accounts, have to be there so that the charges against him, Mihir, are sustained, and stringent action has to be taken against him.
