Karnataka BJP MLA Bharat Shetty sparked controversy on Monday by suggesting strong actions against Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of making anti-Hindu remarks.
“LoP Rahul Gandhi should be locked up and slapped inside Parliament. This act will lead to the filing of seven to eight FIRs. If LoP Rahul Gandhi comes to Mangaluru city, we will arrange the same for him,” MLA Shetty said.
Shetty criticized Gandhi for allegedly holding a picture of Lord Shiva and commented, "He doesn't realize that Lord Shiva's third eye would turn him to ashes. Their policies are anti-Hindu. It's clear he's out of his mind. He thinks Hindus will silently endure whatever he says. If he 'barks' in Parliament, local leaders will obediently follow."
He emphasized BJP's duty to protect Hinduism, accusing Congress of trying to differentiate between Hindus and Hindutva. Shetty warned of future dangers for Hindus due to such leadership, predicting a scenario where Hindus may fear leaving their homes.
Shetty also claimed Gandhi alters his persona based on region, alleging, "In Kerala, he becomes secular; in Tamil Nadu, an atheist; and in Gujarat, a devout follower of Lord Shiva."
Regarding Gandhi's electoral performance, Shetty mocked, "Despite winning only 99 Lok Sabha seats, he claims great achievements."
Asserting Hindu icons like Shivaji and Maharana Pratap, Shetty declared readiness to wield weapons when necessary and promised retaliation after due worship. He concluded with the assertion that a strong action like a slap inside Parliament would set things right with Rahul Gandhi.
