Reflecting on the days gone by, Manjhi maintained that if Kumar had not ordered his appointment as Chief Minister, he wouldn't have reached this far. Burying all his differences with Kumar, he said that Kumar never interfered with his decisions.

He also justified the approach of Kumar towards the issues of Bihar's law and order. He said Kumar has a clean stand on elements of crime. He contrasted that against the pre-2005 situation to bring improvements in curbing extortion and crimes under Kumar's governance.
