India's Economic Ascendancy under PM Modi: From 'Fragile Five' to Global Top Five - shah

Speaking at the India Global Forum’s annual investment summit NXT10 in Mumbai, Shah highlighted the significant policy-driven initiatives undertaken by the Modi government. Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister and a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), emphasized the remarkable transformation India has undergone under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shah remarked that within the past decade, India has transitioned from being part of the 'Fragile Five' to ranking among the top five economies globally. He contrasted the challenging economic conditions during the Congress-led UPA regime, where inflation soared to double digits, with the current scenario, where inflation has been effectively controlled to below 5 percent.

He lauded transformative decisions such as demonetization, the implementation of GST, and measures to address issues like NPAs in banks.

Shah emphasized the Modi government's decisive actions in national security, including surgical and airstrikes, which sent a strong message to the world regarding India's defense capabilities. He also highlighted social reforms such as the abolition of instant triple talaq and the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Furthermore, Shah hailed initiatives like the New Education Policy and the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, which reflect India's commitment to its future and values. He praised Modi's leadership, asserting that under his guidance, India has transitioned from obscurity to prominence on the global stage.

He outlined a vision for India to be completely developed and self-reliant by its centenary of independence in 2047, ranking among the top three economies globally.
