Nirupam said he had always found it tough to remain in the Congress line while espousing the ideals of Balasaheb Thackeray. However, he feels that hurdle has now been removed as he returns to the Shiv Sena to strengthen its ranks. The Congress had expelled Nirupam just a few days ago, expelling him for a period of six years, for what the party called "indisciplence and anti-party statements."

Shinde, giving a warm welcome to Nirupam, said it was important for Shiv Sena to retain the services of such a seasoned politician. Shinde said his return to the party means that Shiv Sena will benefit from Nirupam's profound experience.

Shinde also commented on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's political invincibility and said it was not easy to defeat Narendra Modi, and it was even impossible. He quoted several achievements, including the construction of the Ram Temple and the revocation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, to underline the supremacy of the Prime Minister.
