Congress MLC Hariprasad Warns of Godhra-like Incident Repeat in Karnataka

He urged heightened vigilance, highlighting information he claims to have received from various states, indicating the possibility of a similar development in Karnataka.

Senior Congress leader B.K. Hariprasad has expressed concerns about a Godhra-like incident potentially occurring in Karnataka and called on the state government to ensure the security of those traveling to Ayodhya in the coming days. He urged heightened vigilance, highlighting information he claims to have received from various states, indicating the possibility of a similar development in Karnataka.

In response to Hariprasad's statement, BJP leaders have demanded his immediate arrest. Former Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda called for action against Hariprasad and asserted that a complaint should be filed, demanding the Police Commissioner's intervention.

BJP MLA T.S. Srivatsa, participating in a protest in Mysuru, criticized Hariprasad's statement, claiming it was politically motivated and suggested that he was seeking a ministerial position. Srivatsa called for Hariprasad's immediate arrest and challenged anyone to obstruct their worship, asserting that devotees of Ram would be protected by Lord Ram himself.

Former Minister K.S. Eshwarappa stated that if any untoward incident occurs on January 22, Hariprasad would be directly responsible. He emphasized that Ram bhakts (devotees) would not sit quiet and warned the Congress that they wouldn't be able to face the consequences.

Hariprasad also commented on the Ram Mandir inauguration, stating that it has become a political event rather than a religious one. He indirectly referred to Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, questioning the religious credentials of the individuals associated with the inauguration.

It's worth noting that the Godhra train burning incident occurred on February 27, 2002, resulting in the deaths of 59 Hindu pilgrims and kar sevaks returning from Ayodhya. The incident triggered widespread communal violence in Gujarat, leading to around 2,000 deaths in the subsequent riots.
