Congress Leader Laxman Singh Describes Rahul Gandhi as a Regular Party Worker

Speaking during a media interaction at the party office in Guna, Singh, sibling to former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, stressed, "Rahul Gandhi is an MP, not the party president.

Former Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Laxman Singh made headlines with his remarks on Rahul Gandhi, emphasizing that the former party chief should be seen as an "ordinary party worker" and an MP, not as a towering figure in the party.

Speaking during a media interaction at the party office in Guna, Singh, sibling to former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, stressed, "Rahul Gandhi is an MP, not the party president. He is a Congress worker." He further suggested that media attention toward Rahul Gandhi was disproportionate, stating, "One's stature isn't determined by birth but by actions. I don't see Rahul Gandhi as a significant leader; he's an ordinary MP."

Singh's visit to Guna aimed at rallying support for families affected by a tragic bus accident that claimed 13 lives and left several injured on December 27.

The timing of Singh's comments coincided with Rahul Gandhi's upcoming 'Bharat Jodo Yatra,' providing the ruling BJP with an opportunity to criticize the Congress.

Singh, who contested the 2023 Assembly election from Chachaura constituency, faced defeat against BJP's Priyanka Penchi by a significant margin of 61,570 votes. Following the election results, Singh attributed the Congress's loss in Madhya Pradesh to internal disputes within the state unit, expressing regret that despite favorable surveys, sabotage had impacted the party's seat count.

His remarks have sparked discussions, shedding light on internal dynamics within the Congress party and creating ripples in the political landscape of Madhya Pradesh.
