BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya explained in a series of tweets that LoP is not a constitutionally ordained post but one which was created by a statute brought in by a non-Congress government in 1977, after the Emergency.

Malviya quoted Rahul Gandhi, who lost thrice in Lok Sabha elections, was made to falsely believe that the post is constitutional when it is, in fact statutory.
