Veteran actor and TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha was hospitalized in a private facility in the city due to a severe fever, as confirmed by his son Luv Sinha on Sunday.
The 77-year-old, renowned for his roles in iconic films of the '70s and '80s like "Mere Apne," "Kalicharan," "Vishwanath," "Kaala Patthar," and "Dostana," is also undergoing his annual medical check-up at the hospital, according to Luv.
Details about when Sinha was admitted to the hospital are yet to be confirmed.
"My father had a strong fever, and we decided to admit him to the hospital for recovery and to conduct his yearly check-ups," Luv told PTI in a WhatsApp message.
It has been an eventful last month for Sinha, who won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from West Bengal's Asansol constituency on a TMC ticket. This was followed by the much-talked-about wedding of his daughter, actor Sonakshi Sinha, to her long-time partner and "Double XL" co-star Zaheer Iqbal on June 23.
Speculations were rife that Sinha underwent a minor surgery, but Luv rubbished these reports.
"I have visited the hospital every day, and no such surgery has taken place," he explained.
Sonakshi and Zaheer, who got hitched recently, were spotted leaving a hospital on Friday.
Earlier in the day, Luv criticized a website for allegedly launching an "online campaign" against him based on a "false premise" regarding his absence from his sister's wedding.
"Why I chose not to attend. Running an online campaign against me on a false premise won’t change the fact that for me my family will always come first (sic)," he posted on X.
While Luv had earlier requested time to address questions about his absence from the event, his twin brother Kussh had denied reports suggesting that he skipped the wedding.
