The Indian Army's Northern Command posted a video on social media Wednesday evening, showcasing some of the highlights from Operation Sindoor, the operation to target terror camps across the border in Pakistan.
In its X post, the army called the May operation "an exemplar of restraint turning into decisive response." India has emphasized that the strikes were precision attacks on specific targets in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack and not meant to be escalatory. This, the government and armed forces emphasized, is why the two sides sat together and agreed to a ceasefire.
The video also explains the India-Pakistan ceasefire that has received worldwide attention, especially with reports that US President Donald Trump was upset over India not giving him credit for "stopping the war."
“Precision strikes on terror launchpads and the elimination of perpetrators of the Pahalgam massacre underscore our unwavering pursuit of peace in the region,” the Northern Command said on X.
The message stresses India's sovereign approach, indicating third-party intervention will not determine its actions. The video contains rare visuals allegedly shot by the drones and missiles deployed during the attacks.
As far as the ceasefire is concerned, the video has Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, India's DGMO, stating that it was his Pakistani counterpart who "suggested that we stop fighting." The short video clip of an Indian officer talking is the only part of the three-minute video where Indian military personnel is heard.
In all-caps text and with dramatic music, the video says, “A new line is drawn: India will not stop until terrorism is wiped out.”
Operation Sindoor was initiated at an early hour on May 7 as a measured reaction to the Pahalgam attack, which had resulted in 26 deaths. Pakistan then made attempts at Indian military bases on May 8, 9, and 10, whereupon India struck back against several Pakistani military installations.
The fighting came to an end on May 10, when India and Pakistan agreed to stop fighting.
