The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra vehicle, intended to showcase the achievements of the Modi government's initiatives, faced vandalism by unidentified individuals in Odisha's Bhadrak district, officials confirmed.
The incident occurred in Dhamnagar around 11 am during a public event led by BJP supporters under MLA Suryabanshi Suraj. The BJP MLA accused workers from the ruling BJD party of orchestrating the attack and staged a protest in front of the Dhamnagar police station, demanding action against the perpetrators.
Describing the act as a premeditated conspiracy by the BJD, the MLA expressed disappointment, emphasizing that targeting initiatives of the central government undermines the collective welfare of the people.
Furthermore, he highlighted an unsettling disruption caused by party members during a women's medical checkup, adding to the unrest.
Reacting to these allegations, local BJD leader Ashok Nayak denied involvement in any violent activities, asserting the party's commitment to progress and non-violence. Following the incident, the police intervened and apprehended two individuals, as confirmed by Fanindra Bhusan Nayak, inspector in-charge (IIC) of Dhamnagar police station.
