Swift Transfer: IAS Officer Moved Within 24 Hours for 'Aukaat' Remark to Truck Driver

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav swiftly responded by issuing a transfer order for the officer, Kishor Kanyal, with immediate effect.

An IAS officer found himself in hot water after a derogatory remark during a confrontation with a protesting truck driver in Shajapur district. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav swiftly responded by issuing a transfer order for the officer, Kishor Kanyal, with immediate effect.

During a meeting with agitating truck drivers, Kanyal, the 2013-batch IAS officer and Shajapur District Collector, lost his temper and uttered, "Kya aukaat hai tumhari (What is your worth)?" The incident, captured on video, circulated on social media, depicting the contentious exchange between Kanyal and the truck driver. The latter responded, "Hamari koi aukaat nahi hai, isi liye to lad rahe hain (We have no worth, that's why we are fighting)."

In response to this disrespectful behavior, Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Veera Rana promptly issued a transfer order relocating Kanyal to Bhopal as Under-Secretary. Riju Bafna, a 2014-batch IAS officer currently serving as the Collector of Narsinghpur district, has been appointed as the new Shajapur District Collector.

Expressing his disapproval, CM Yadav emphasized the need for officials to respect the work and sentiments of the poor. He underscored that the government, under PM Modi's leadership, is dedicated to the welfare of the less privileged. Yadav, hailing from a working-class background himself, firmly stated that such behavior would not be tolerated.

The meeting, convened by the District Collector to persuade protesting truck drivers to allow the supply of essential goods, was prompted by Yadav's directive to ensure minimal disruption caused by the drivers' three-day-long strike over the new MV Act.

Fortunately, normalcy returned after the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) called off the strike following a meeting with officials in Delhi late on Tuesday night.
