A US Congressional delegation visiting New Delhi and meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday hailed India-US relations as "highly significant" and praised the "scale, fairness, and transparency" of India's recent Lok Sabha elections.
PM Modi underscored the crucial role played by consistent bipartisan support from the US Congress in advancing the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between the two nations. He tweeted after the meeting, “Had a very good exchange of views with friends from the US Congress in a delegation led by Rep McCaul, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
“Deeply value the strong bipartisan support in advancing India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership,” PM Modi posted on X after the meeting.
Emphasizing shared democratic values, respect for the rule of law, and robust people-to-people ties, PM Modi reaffirmed his commitment to further enhancing bilateral relations for global welfare.
The delegation, led by Rep. Michael McCaul and including Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Gregory Meeks, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, Rep. Amerish Babulal ‘Ami Bera,’ and Rep. Jim McGovern, congratulated PM Modi on his historic third-consecutive term. They described India-US relations as the most consequential and expressed strong support for deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Global Partnership across various domains such as trade, new technologies, defense, and people-to-people exchanges.
“The delegation described India-US relations as the most consequential one and expressed their strong support for further deepening Comprehensive Strategic Global Partnership in all areas, including trade, new and emerging technology, Defence, people to people exchanges,” said a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

PM Modi also recalled his State Visit to the US in June last year, during which he addressed a Joint Session of the US Congress for the second time in history.
