On Wednesday, India underscored its unwavering commitment to a zero-tolerance stance against terrorism while commenting on the Iranian attacks on bases belonging to a terror group in Pakistan. The Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, characterized the situation as a matter between Iran and Pakistan.
Speaking on behalf of India, Jaiswal stated, "This is a matter between Iran and Pakistan. As far as India is concerned, we have an uncompromising zero tolerance towards terrorism. We understand actions that countries take in their self-defense."
The context of this statement revolves around Iranian missile attacks targeting two bases associated with the terror group Jaish al-Adl in Pakistan. Prior to this incident, the same militant group had launched attacks on Iranian security forces near the Iran-Pakistan border.
Pakistan reported casualties, noting that two children lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries in the strikes conducted by Iran on Tuesday. The Iranian government asserted that the targeted bases were linked to Jaish al-Adl.
It's noteworthy that Pakistan now joins Iraq and Syria as the third country to face an attack from Iran in recent days. The situation highlights the complexity of regional dynamics and the ongoing challenges posed by terrorism in the region. India, while emphasizing its zero-tolerance approach to terrorism, maintains a position of non-interference in the specific issues between Iran and Pakistan.
