Sandeshkhali Row: Calcutta HC grants bail to Republic TV journalist

In a significant development, the Calcutta High Court has decided to grant bail to Santu Pan, the Republic TV  journalist, who found himself in the clutches of the West Bengal Police amidst the turmoil in the Sandeshkhali region.

This decision came to light following a petition filed by the journalist himself, employed with Republic Bangla, seeking relief from the legal entanglement.

Pan was apprehended by the authorities on Monday from Sandeshkhali and subsequently held in police custody for a duration of three days by a local court in the North 24 Parganas district.

The grounds for Pan's arrest stemmed from a complaint filed by a woman, alleging that he had unlawfully entered her residence.
