Prime Minister Modi Extends Congratulations to Pakistan's New Leader Shehbaz Sharif

Shehbaz Sharif, the President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), at the age of 72, took the oath of office on Monday in a formal ceremony conducted at the Aiwan-i-Sadr, the presidential residence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Shehbaz Sharif following his inauguration as the 24th Prime Minister of Pakistan.

In a message shared on his official platform, PM Modi conveyed his best wishes to @CMShehbaz on assuming the position of Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Shehbaz Sharif, younger sibling to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, previously held the office from April 11, 2022, to August 14, 2023, following the defeat of the Imran Khan administration in a no-confidence vote.

The inauguration event witnessed the presence of Nawaz Sharif, along with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, and various other members of the PML-N.

Shehbaz Sharif emerged as the mutual candidate of the PML-N and the PPP, securing agreement on a power-sharing arrangement to establish a coalition government.

Reflecting on the occasion, the official PML-N handle expressed confidence in PM Shehbaz Sharif's abilities, citing his past efforts for Pakistan's development. They stated, "PM Shehbaz Sharif worked tirelessly for Pakistan's progress. He has a proven track record and will continue to deliver. Even his critics acknowledge his hard work and accomplishments. He is set to be an exceptional Prime Minister!"
