The finance minister said that the government has adopted a targeted approach based on ground-level inputs to tackle retail inflation which is ruling at around 7 per cent.
India inks six pacts with Maldives
After holding talks with the visiting Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Threat of crime, terrorism and drug trafficking is serious in the Indian Ocean and close India-Maldives ties were important for peace in the entire region." President Solih, who is on a four-day visit to India, said he and Prime Minister Modi have reiterated their firm commitment to combat the menace of terrorism.
Scientists have isolated monkeypox, possibility of developing vax: Mandaviya
While replying to a question regarding the steps taken to create awareness about monkeypox, Madaviya said: "Monkeypox has been isolated by our scientists and ICMR has also floated an 'expression of interest'. Like it was done during the time of Covid. On the basis of that, our scientists who come forward should be given an isolated virus so that its vaccine can be developed."
Delhi's 1st monkeypox patient recovers, discharged from hospital
The Monkeypox patient was discharged on Monday night after showing the sign of recovery. Talking to IANS, Dr Suresh Kumar, MD, LNJP Hospital said, "We have discharged the patient which was the first case of monkeypox in the capital city. The man recovered total in 25 days."
India reports 13,734 new Covid cases, 34 deaths
With the addition of the new fatalities, the country's overall Covid death toll has increased to 5,26,430. The active caseload has marginally declined to 1,39,792, accounting for 0.32 per cent of the country's total positive cases. The recovery of 17,897 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,33,83,787. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.49 per cent.
Delhi records second monkeypox case, nationwide tally reaches 6
A 35-year-old Nigerian man, who was admitted to the LNJP hospital, has tested positive for the infection, a source told IANS. He is the second confirmed case of monkeypox in the city. The foreign national was admitted two days ago to the LNJP hospital which has been designated by the government as the nodal hospital for treatment of the infection.

Sanjay Raut sent to ED custody till August 4
Special PMLA Court Special Judge M. G. Deshpande pronounced the order as Raut was produced by the ED after he was arrested here early this morning. While the ED's Special Public Prosecutor Hiten Venegaonkar sought 8 days custody, Raut's lawyer Ashok Mundargi opposed it on various grounds, including the health problems of his client who was a cardiac patient.
ISRO to fly new rocket SSLV on Aug 7
According to the ISRO, the rocket SSLV-D1 (Developmental Flight 1) will blast off from the launch pad at Sriharikota at 9.18 a.m. The rocket with a maximum luggage carrying capacity of 500 kg will be carrying an earth observation satellite-02 (EOS-02) formerly known as Microsatellite-2A weighing about 142 kg. The satellite will carry an infrared camera with six metre resolution.
ED arrests Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut in Patra Chawl scam case
The ED had sent several summons to the Sena leader which he skipped, following which he has been arrested. Earlier, a month back he had even dared the ED to arrest him. Raut will be presented before the Mumbai court on Monday morning. The ED had earlier sent Pune businessman Avinash Bhosale into custody in DHFL-Yes Bank case, and the sources claimed that they wanted to grill Raut in this matter too.
