Rear seat occupants sans seat belt to be penalised soon: Nitin Gadkari

Nitin Gadkari said that a notification in this regard will be issued in the next three days. Gadkari's comment came two days after industrialist and former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry and his friend Jahangir Pandole were killed when their Mercedes car hit a road divider in Maharashtra's Palghar district. Mistry was reportedly not wearing a seat belt. The minister said that the highest number of people dying in road accidents in India belong to the 18-34 age group. On the sidelines of an event on Monday, Gadkari had said that people think that passengers sitting on the rear seat don't need to waer seat belts. 
Teesta water sharing issue with India will be resolved soon: Sheikh Hasina

"Both the countries have resolved several long-standing issues keeping the spirit of cooperation and friendship in mind. I hope that all other issues, including water sharing of Teesta river, would be resolved soon," the visiting Bangladeshi Prime Minister said. Disagreements between the two countries over the allocation of the river water has remained a subject of conflict for several decades.
India, Bangladesh ink seven pacts

The India and Bangladesh agreements are related to water resources, IT and space, broadcasting as well as railways. These included an agreement on withdrawal of water from the cross-border Kushiyara river, cooperation in space technology, collaboration on IT systems used by railways for freight movement and an agreement for cooperation in the field of science and technology.

Sheikh Hasina to meet PM Modi; discuss defence, trade & river water sharing

The two leaders are also expected to ink agreements on water sharing on the Kushiyara River, training and IT cooperation in Railways, science, space and media cooperation. Prime Minister Hasina, who is on a four-day visit to India, is also set to meet President Droupadi Murmu and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar. Upon her arrival on Monday, she visited the dargah of Hazrat Nizamuddin.
India logs 4,417 fresh Covid cases, 23 deaths

In the same 24-hour period, 23 Covid-related deaths took the national fatalities tally to 5,28,030. Meanwhile, the active caseload has dipped to 52,336 cases, accounting for 0.12 per cent of the total positive cases. The recovery of 6,032 patients in the same period took the cumulative tally to 4,38,86,496. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.69 per cent.
Rajnath, Jaishankar to visit Japan for 2+2 ministerial meet

However, counsel for an intervenor urged the top court to dismiss the petitions saying identical petitions were filed by advocate Ashwini Upadhyay which also included petition seeking directions to draft a Uniform Civil Code
