India reports 2,786 fresh Covid cases, 12 deaths
With the fresh fatalities, the death toll mounted to 5,28,847. Active caseload presently stands at 26,509 cases, accounting for 0.06 per cent of the total positive cases. The recovery of 2,557 patients took the cumulative tally to 4,40,65,963. Consequently, the country's recovery rate stands at 98.76 per cent.
SC delivers split verdict on Karnataka hijab ban, Justice Dhulia sets aside HC judgment
The judgment was delivered by a bench comprising Justices Hemant Gupta and Sudhanshu Dhulia. Justice Gupta upheld the Karnataka government circular and dismissed the appeals against the Karnataka High Court judgment. However, Justice Dhulia allowed all the appeals and set aside the judgment of the Karnataka High Court.
Interpol turns down Indian agencies' request for notice against Khalistani leader
The Interpol had put the request of issuing Red Corner Notice on hold for six months before cancelling it. Pannu has been named as an accused in terror and riot cases by a number of agencies in India. He has been accused of provoking Khalistani movements in India. It was the second time when the request of the Indian agencies have been turned down. Around six to seven months ago, the request of issuing a red corner notice was put on hold by the Interpol.
Now a Rs 223 cr FD scam of Delhi govt's Forest and Wildlife Dept
A senior CBI official said that the Department of Forests and Wildlife of the Delhi government issued its surplus of Rs 223 crore to the Bank of Baroda's Paharganj branch for the purpose of a FDR in the name of the Ridge Management Board Fund. The CBI said that L A Khan, the then senior branch manager of BOB, transferred the whole amount to an account registered in the name of DUSIB (Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board), which is a fake account.
Iranian navy officer suffers heart attack, evacuated by Indian Navy
At around 8.30 a.m., the Iranian Navy requested medical evacuation of its Navy officer who had suffered a cardiac arrest onboard IRI Ship Makaran, off the Mumbai coast. The Indian Navy helicopter from INS Shikra flew to the vessel and evacuated the patient alongwith two attendants.

Chief Justice Lalit will demit office on November 8, after a tenure of 74 days. On Tuesday, Justice Chandrachud was formally named as the 50th CJI at a gathering of all Supreme Court judges.He will have a tenure of two years and he would demit office on November 10, 2024.
