India's Resolve Against Terror: Defence Secy's Response to Kathua Attack

The attack was claimed by the militant group 'Kashmir Tigers', affiliated to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also condoled the death of the soldiers, expressing deep condolences to their families. He said that the nation shared the grief of the martyred soldiers' families and stood by them in this hour of crisis. The Defence Secretary, Giridhar Aramane, assured that killing of five Army personnel in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir will be suitably replied to and India is determined to defeat the artisans behind the attack. The Defence Secretary expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences; he also recognised the bravery of those soldiers who lost their lives in the militant assault in Badnota, Kathua. He pledged that their sacrifices will be avenged—reiterating India's resolve against malignant acts.

Heavily armed terrorists ambushed a patrolling party in Badnota, Kathua, killing five Army personnel on Monday. The authorities launched an extensive search operation to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
