India's Firm Stand Against Terrorism Echoes as Sri Lanka Commemorates Five Years Since Easter Sunday Bombings

"In solemn remembrance of the victims of the tragic Easter Sunday bombings, High Commissioner Jha joined the prayer service at St. Anthony’s Shrine. India reaffirms its solidarity with the victims of this heinous attack and with the entire Sri Lankan community. India reiterated its firm stance against terrorism, extending condolences to Sri Lanka on the solemn occasion of the fifth anniversary of the devastating Easter Sunday bombings. Santosh Jha, the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, participated in a poignant prayer ceremony at St. Anthony’s Shrine, one of the harrowing scenes of the 2019 terrorist onslaught. The barbaric acts perpetrated by extremists claimed the lives of over 250 individuals, including citizens of India.

Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swift visit to Colombo in June 2019, shortly after the Easter Sunday atrocities, underscores India's unwavering support to Sri Lanka in times of adversity. PM Modi paid homage to the victims of the attacks at St. Anthony’s Church, Kochchikade, and engaged in substantive discussions with Sri Lanka's leadership in the capital city, demonstrating India's commitment to fostering regional solidarity and combating terrorism collectively.
