Indian Government Takes Strong Measures Against JKLF and JK Peoples Freedom League

Union Home Minister Amit Shah made the announcement, emphasizing that those who pose a threat to the security, sovereignty, and integrity of the nation will be held accountable under stringent legal measures. Furthermore, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs issued a separate notification, prohibiting four factions of the J-K Peoples League – namely JKPL (Mukhtar Ahmed Waza), JKPL (Bashir Ahmad Tota), JKPL (Ghulam Mohammad Khan), and the Yaqoob Sheikh-led JKPL (Aziz Sheikh).

The Indian government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi has taken decisive action by banning several organizations operating in the Jammu and Kashmir region. These include the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, led by Yasin Malik who is currently imprisoned on charges related to terrorism. Additionally, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League and four factions of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League have also been banned due to their involvement in fostering terrorism and advocating for secessionism within the Union territory.

Shah underscored the government's commitment to safeguarding India's unity and stability, stating that the 'Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (Mohd. Yasin Malik faction)' has been labeled an 'Unlawful Association' for an extended period of five years. Regarding the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League, which has also been banned for five years, Shah reiterated that the organization has posed a significant threat to India's integrity by actively promoting and supporting separatist agendas through acts of terrorism.

The government's stance on combating terrorism remains firm, with Shah reaffirming that individuals and groups involved in such activities will not be tolerated. This decisive action reflects the government's unwavering commitment to ensuring peace and security within the region.
