On Friday, the defense ministry finalized five military procurement agreements totaling Rs 39,125 crore.
Among these contracts, one was made with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for the acquisition of aero-engines for MiG-29 aircraft, as per the ministry's statement.
Larsen & Toubro Limited secured two contracts for the procurement of a close-in weapon system (CIWS) and a high-power radar. Additionally, two other agreements were reached with BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited for the purchase of BrahMos missiles.
In its statement, the ministry emphasized that these contracts would bolster indigenous capabilities, promote savings in foreign exchange, and diminish reliance on foreign-origin equipment manufacturers in the future.
