Industrialist and ex-husband of Karisma Kapoor, Sunjay Kapur, has allegedly died. The information was posted by entrepreneur and writer Suhel Seth, a close friend of Kapur.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Suhel Seth posted, "Deeply saddened at the death of @sunjaykapur : he died earlier today in England: an awful loss and deepest sympathies to his family and to his team @sonacomstar …Om Shanti."
The cause of death was a heart attack, as per reports. Kapur was the CEO at Sixt India and a prominent businessman.
Sunjay was married once before to Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor. They had two kids together - daughter Samaira and son Kiaan. They got married on 29 September 2003 in a grand Sikh wedding ceremony at the Krishna Raj Bungalow of the Kapoor family in Mumbai.
Their relationship began to take a toll, though, and in 2014 the couple mutually filed for divorce. They withdrew their consent in 2015, but the split was ultimately finalised in 2016.
Karisma had also registered a case of domestic violence against Sunjay and his mother while they were living apart, citing physical harm and attributing affair to him. She had also registered a case of dowry harassment, which resulted in the issue of a summons to Sunjay by the Mumbai police. The divorce process had already become contentious with both sides engaged in a fight over the custody of their children.
Prior to her marriage to Sunjay, Karisma was engaged briefly to actor Abhishek Bachchan in 2002. The engagement was later cancelled, and the reason for their breakup was never announced.
After his divorce from Karisma, Sunjay Kapur got married to model and entrepreneur Priya Sachdev.
