Baahubali: Crown of Blood" Animated Series Premieres May 17th on Disney+ Hotstar

Rajamouli launched the franchise with the 2015 release "Baahubali: The Beginning", which featured Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Sathyaraj, and Tamannaah Bhatia, which smashed many records in the BOX office, becoming the first South Indian film to cross over Rs 650 crore across the globe. The sequel was "Baahubali: The Conclusion," released in 2017.

Disney+Hotstar announced that the long-awaited animated series "Baahubali: Crown of Blood", a prequel to S S Rajamouli's cash cows "Baahubali", is all set to premier on Disney+Hotstar on May 17, announced the streaming platform. The series has been developed by Rajamouli and Sharad Devarajan, who are behind the development of "The Legend of Hanuman". The series will take viewers on an animated ride through the world of "Baahubali", opening a new chapter in an unseen saga of epic adventures, camaraderie, deceit, turmoil, and valor, as stated in a press note.

"Baahubali: Crown of Blood" is a story where Baahubali and Bhallaladeva will unite to save the glorious empire of Mahishmati and the throne from the sinister enemy, the mystery warlord known as Raktadeva, the official synopsis stated.
 

A joint venture by Graphic India and Arka Mediaworks, the animated series has been made by Rajamouli, Devarajan, and Shobu Yarlagadda, with direction by Jeevan J Kang and Navin John.

Having the opportunity to express his excitement, Rajamouli commented, "I am extremely happy to present the story in animation form. The world of Baahubali is wide, and the films presented audiences with it; there is much more to be discovered, which is where 'Baahubali: Crown of Blood' steps in. This tale will reveal many unexpected turns in the life of Baahubali and Bhallaladeva, along with a forgotten dark secret, as the two brothers fight to protect Mahishmati."

Prabhas, who starred as the titular character in the movies, said he is excited to be a part of one of the key parts in the life of Baahubali and Bhallaladeva. "It's exciting that Baahubali and Bhallaladeva will come back together in this unexplored part of Baahubali's life. 'Actor Baahubali: Crown of Blood' is a prequel to the events in the movies series. "I am very excited with this new chapter," the actor said.

For his part, Daggubati, who played Bhallaladeva in the movies, was excited to continue the legacy of the franchise through animated storytelling. "This new part of Baahubali's and Bhallaladeva's lives will reveal more mysteries of the Baahubali universe. I am excited that S S Rajamouli, Sharad Devarajan, Disney+Hotstar, Arka Mediaworks, and Graphic India are taking this new part of Baahubali's world into the animated medium, inviting fans and new audiences into the Baahubali universe in an engaging way," he said.
