It was declared on Monday that IIT Madras emerged at the top in the overall category of institutions in India, according to NIRF 2024. Other institutions topped respective fields.
In the list of medical institutions, AIIMS, New Delhi, secured the first position, and IIM Ahmedabad in the management institutions. Hindu College of Delhi University topped the 'college category'.
In the legal education sector, the National Law School of India University in Bengaluru turned out to be at the top. In agriculture and allied sectors, the Indian Agriculture Research Institute in New Delhi ranked first. In the innovation category, IIT Bombay proved to be the best institution.
Anna University in Chennai has been declared the top state public university, while Indira Gandhi National Open University has been ranked first among open universities.
IISc Bangalore secured the top position, Jawaharlal Nehru University took the second, Jamia Millia Islamia took the third, Manipal Academy of Higher Education the fourth, Banaras Hindu University the fifth, and Delhi University the sixth in the university rankings. Jamia Millia Islamia maintained its third place in the university category for the third consecutive year.
Delhi University also had a significant presence in the top ten colleges list. Miranda House, which was the top college last year, fell to second place this year, while Hindu College claimed the top spot. St. Stephen's College was ranked third, Rama Krishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College in Kolkata fourth, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharm College in Delhi fifth, St. Xavier's College in Kolkata sixth, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women in Coimbatore seventh, Loyola College in Chennai eighth, Kirori Mal College from DU ninth, and Lady Shri Ram College tenth.
In the skill universities category, Symbiosis Skills and Professional University in Pune secured the first position.
