UPSC (Prelims) rescheduled in October

The examination will be held on October 10, which was earlier scheduled to be held on June 27. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) deferred the examination due to the prevailing conditions caused by the second wave of novel coronavirus or Covid-19 which so far has infected 2,37,03,665 people that include 37,10,525 active cases and 2,58,317 deaths.
Varsities must ensure safety before holding online exams: UGC

The statutory body has urged universities across the country to keep their campus premises safe from the pandemic. The UGC has said universities should encourage students and other staff to get vaccinated. UGC Chairman D.P. Singh has written a letter to universities across the country over tackling Covid-19. The letter said universities should remain united in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Delhi govt may get additional time to prepare for CBSE Class 10 results

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has accepted the request made by the Directorate of Education of the Delhi government to extend the deadline for the Class 10 results. According to the CBSE, a results committee comprising the school principal, five teachers, and two external examiners, can hold a special programme to send the result sheet of Class 10 students.
CBSE's 'dost for life' app to counsel students from class 9 to 12

With the help of the app, students and parents will be able to get answers to their questions on education, health and social topics. This mobile counselling app of the CBSE is named 'dost for life'. According to the CBSE, the app is to be used to improve students' psycho-social wellness. From Monday, this app will be fully available for students.
Harvard introduces Covid-19 vaccine requirement for students

"To reach the high levels of vaccination needed to protect our community, Harvard will require Covid vaccination for all students who will be on campus this fall," the elite university in Cambridge, Massachusetts, announced on Wednesday. According to the statement, exceptions would only be granted for medical or religious reasons.

DU teachers' union warns against termination of 12 ad hoc teachers

According to the DU SC/ST/OBC Teachers' Forum, of the 12 ad hoc teachers, five have tested positive for Covid-19. The overall condition of teachers suffering from the infection is quite bad. Their families have been struggling with a financial crisis while they have been terminated.
Karnataka postpones PUC board exams amid Covid spread

"The Education Department has decided to postpone the final year board exams of the 2-year PUC on the advice of the technical advisory committee on Covid crisis management," he told reporters here. Practical exams in science subjects had already been deferred. The department had also received representation from students and their parents to put off the annual exams, as the state is in the grip of the pandemic.

This clarification from the US Embassy in India came after American President Joe Biden had signed a proclamation suspending the entry of certain non-immigrant travellers who have been physically present in India. This proclamation came into effect on Tuesday (May 4) at 9:30 IST.
