The Delhi government along with Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has decided on reopening junior classes in Delhi. The decision in this regard was taken during the meeting held between the DDMA and Lt. Governor Anil Baijal on Wednesday. The physical classes will resume after the festive season. The meeting further highlighted how the situations are 'good' but proper covid precautions will be strictly followed.
The government took the decision of the opening of schools after observing situations from the other states. The increased number of vaccinated people was also taken into account while making the decision.

The officials further mentioned that festivals such as Ramilla, Dushera, Durga Puja celebrations will be allowed, but with proper Covid guidelines and proper social distancing. Festivals will be celebrated with restrictions on crowd gatherings, number of eateries, fairs, and separate entry and exit points. Compliance with Covid-19 guidelines is mandatory.
Classes for higher grades of 9th to 12th are already functional in the city. The senior classes had resumed in a phased manner from September 1, 2021, for the first time since March 2020. The classes had resumed taking into consideration the improving covid scenarios.

Fifty percent attendance and staggered lunch break are part of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) for schools, colleges that commenced classes for students of 9-12 standards from September 1.
The long shutdown of schools has affected students in many adverse ways and so numerous private schools had been demanding for classes to restart on offline mode.
