CBSE Board Exams 2022: No Student to fail in Class 10, 12 term 1 exams 

The CBSE had introduced the new pattern of examination for the 2021-22 batch of classes 10th and 12th. The board exams were divided into two terms and the syllabus has also been split in two. The results for the term 1 MCQ pattern exams that were conducted in November-December are expected to be announced in January.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided not to fail any student of class 10 and 12 in the Term 1 board examinations. The decision came as a relief to multiple students who were unhappy with their performance in the term 1 board exams and had found it tough. The CBSE had introduced the new pattern of examination for the 2021-22 batch of classes 10th and 12th. The board exams were divided into two terms and the syllabus has also been split in two. The results for the term 1 MCQ pattern exams that were conducted in November-December are expected to be announced in January.

Key Points:


1. Over 33 lakh students had registered for the CBSE class 10 and 12 board exams and the decision to not fail the students came as a relief to many. The board decided to neither pass nor fail any student yet.

2. CBSE said that the term 1 exams will only consist of marks and no student will receive a pass, fail or repeat of compartmental grade. The pass or fail results will be evaluated after both the terms are conducted. After the term 2 examinations are completed, the final scores will be calculated.

3. The pass, fail, repeat,  or compartmental grade will be provided after the final evaluation is done. The final evaluation will include the results of term 1, term 2, and internal assessment scores.

4. Numerous students had complained that the MCQ format Term-1 CBSE examination was tougher than usual and the board and as the term pattern was new for the students the board decided to not fail students in term 1.

5. "Failure rates will be lower and youngsters will have more opportunities to develop themselves. They will be able to concentrate on their schoolwork," CBSE controller Sanyam Bhardwaj has told news agency PTI.

6. According to the guidelines and pattern of CBSE, the second term will hold more weightage in the final result and it will have a descriptive format, unlike Term-1.

7. The term-2 exams will be conducted for 2 hours and students will encounter questions related to case-based, situation-based, open-ended short answer, and long answer type questions.

8. The syllabus had been split systematically split in two based on the interconnectivity of concepts and topics. Term 1 had multiple-choice questions and assertion-reasoning.

9. For internal assessment of class 10 and 12 students, schools will be taking the internal exams and periodic tests as per CBSE's set guidelines. The schools will be required to upload all the internal markings on the internal evaluation on the CBSE IT platform.
