US probes another Tesla Autopilot crash
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) swung into action after the driver of a Tesla Model Y smashed into a state trooper's cruiser near Michigan. Michigan police said the driver was using Autopilot, Tesla's advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS), at the time of the crash, The Verge reported on Thursday.
Mercedes-Benz India launches new E-Class
At present, the E-Class remains Mercedes-Benz India's largest selling model with more than 46,000 units on Indian roads. "We had to advance the launch of the new E-Class owing to the successful run out of the outgoing model much ahead of our planning and for an overwhelming interest for the new model," said Martin Schwenk, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.
Ford introduces EcoSport SE Featuring at Rs 10.49L
The new variant - Ford EcoSport SE - is priced at Rs 10.49 lakh for petrol and Rs 10.99 lakh diesel variants. The company said that the new variant features design cues borrowed from its American and European peers, where the compact SUV is sold without a rear-mounted spare wheel.
Ola showcases 1st electric scooter, aims 1 cr bikes by 2022
Built over 500 acres in Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu, the Ola FutureFactory facility will roll out one scooter every two seconds at full capacity, according to Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Group CEO. Vehicle registrations in January falls over 9% YoY
On Tuesday, data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) showed that over 15.92 lakh vehicles were registered January 2021, compared with over 17.63 lakh units in January 2020. The fall comes after December 2020's registration rose on a YoY basis.
Musk pledges $100 million for carbon removal competition
The carbon removal contest, announced on Monday morning, will run for four years and is open to teams around the globe. Fifteen teams will be selected for the competition within 18 months and they will each get $1 million and 25 separate $200,000 scholarships will be given to student teams who enter.
Hyundai, Kia say not in talks with Apple, shares plunge
In separate regulatory filings, Hyundai and Kia, which together form the world's fifth-biggest carmaker by sales, said they are "not in talks with Apple over developing an autonomous vehicle". In a statement, Hyundai said that it "has received requests to co-develop autonomous electric vehicle from multiple companies but they were in the early stages and nothing has been finalised".
Hyundai to reshore some US production to keep local jobs
Under an agreement reached between the company and the union, production of about 70,000 Sonata and Avante sedans will be returned from its factory in Alabama to its Asan and Ulsan factories in South Korea's central and southeastern regions, union officials said.
