In the inaugural match of IPL 2022, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) trounced the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 6 wickets. It was first match for Ravindra Jadeja as the captain but his team lost despite Dhoni's half-century. Chennai Super Kings made 131/5 in 20 over. In the answer, KKR made 132/4 in 18.3 overs and won the match by 6 wickets.

Kohli was not “enjoying” the captaincy, Kapil Dev told the Mid-Day. He further said that the mercurial Indian batsman was going through a tough phase ever since giving up the T20 captaincy of the national side back in September 2021 and off-late seemed to be under a lot of pressure. He further said in the same report that Kohli gave up the test captaincy to play without any pressure and hopes to see the flamboyant batsman back among runs.

Speaking to Zee News, Harbhajan said that the decision to drop him from the national side was not that of the then Indian captain M.S. Dhoni but of certain board officials. He further added that Dhoni might not have had a say in the decision (to drop him) but the final call lay with the board members which cannot be overruled by anyone, be it the captain or the coach. "Yes. MS Dhoni was the captain then but I think this thing was above Dhoni's head," he added.

New ODI captain Rohit Sharma wants middle-order batsmen to prepare for worst-case scenarios

India's new One Day International captain Rohit Sharma has said that middle order batters of his team will have to prepare themselves to deal with the worst case scenario, in order to win ICC trophies going ahead. Sharma was on Wednesday declared new ODI captain by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Virat was reportedly sacked as ODI captain after he failed to voluntarily step down within 48 hours, as demanded by the BCCI. The cricket board has shown a lot of trust in Rohit Sharma and chose him India's new white ball captain.

On this decision the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has opened up and said that the board and selectors took this decision together. In addition to this he also said that the board and he personally had words with Virat Kohli over the decision. The tenure of Rohit Sharma as ODI captain is likely to begin in the series against South Africa in January.
