Jahangirpuri Violence: Delhi Police arrest key accused from West Bengal

The accused, identified as Farid alias Nilu, was arrested from his relative's place at Tamluk in East Midnapore district of West Bengal. Official sources told IANS that a team of the Special Cell has already left West Bengal for Delhi along with the accused. The sources further said that Farid is accused of instigating the violence in Jahangirpuri.

The residents of the area have started complaining of sore throat, itchy eyes and breathing problems due to the fire that broke out on Tuesday. A school in the vicinity has also been closed, owing to the smoke that might affect children's health.
New variant of Corona detected in Patna

The new variant BA.12 is 10 times more dangerous than BA.2 which was detected during the third wave of Corona in the country. Prof Dr Namrata Kumari, the HOD of microbiology department of IGIMS, said: "Keeping in view the rising Covid cases, we had started genome sequencing of samples of Omicron variant of Corona. There were 13 samples tested and one of them had BA.12 strains. The remaining 12 samples have BA.2 strains."
Situation tense after foreign student falls to death in Karnataka

Haseena, a 24-year-old student from Uganda enrolled in the final year of an engineering course, died after falling from the sixth floor of the residential facility.
Ukraine seeks to get $5bn from IMF per month: PM

India Meteorological Department (IMD) said: "Heat wave conditions would continue over Vidarbha, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh during next five days, over Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, interior Gangetic West Bengal and interior Odisha till April 30, over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi till May 1, Bihar till April 29, over Chhattisgarh during April 28-30, and northern parts of Gujarat on April 28."
African Swine Fever Outbreak: Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya impose curbs

After Mizoram, the fresh outbreak of ASF was reported from Tripura and Meghalaya. Officials said on Wednesday that the state authorities are taking steps as per the guidelines of the National Action Plan of the Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying for control, containment and eradication of ASF. In Mizoram, the ASF, which created havoc last year killing over 33,400 pigs, has reappeared in a few districts, killing over 800 pigs over the past two months.
Covid: Vaccinating all eligible children is priority, says PM Modi
